(PRC, Hong Kong, 15 June 2013) Goldpoly New Energy Holdings Limited (“Goldpoly” or “the Company,” HK stock code: 686, whose largest shareholder is China Merchants New Energy Group “CMNE”) a leading solar power plant investor and operator in China, today announced that its 100MW solar power plant located in Jiayuguan has successfully connected to the grid. China Merchants New Energy Holdings has thereby become one of the solar companies that have a total capacity of over 100 megawatts.

The 100MW solar power plant is located in a photovoltaic industrial park in the west of Jiayuguan City and on north side of Taolai River, occupying an area of 2.6 kilometers. On 15 June 2013, the Jiayuguan Solar Power Plant was successfully connected to the state grid from the transformer substation in the park via main transformer charging and various kinds of debugging operations.

Mr. Alan LI, Chief Executive Officer o f Goldpoly , said: “The 100MW solar power plant in Jiayuguan fully exploits local resources of solar energy and decertified land, providing clean energy to support Western Development Program and West-East Gas Transmission. We would like to realize the green dream together with hundreds of thousands of households.

Mr. Shi Dinghuan, Counselor of the State Council and chairman of the China Renewable Energy Society, said, “China is implementing favorable policies to boost domestic demand for photovoltaic products in face of the anti-dumping proceedings of the European Union and the United States. It is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for China’s photovoltaic enterprises. I hope China Merchants New Energy will stay innovation-driven to facilitate solar power application and propel construction of large solar power plants as well as distributed power systems. I believe it is capable of being a role model to lead the sustainable and healthy development of the photovoltaic industry. ”

During its 25-year operational period, the Jiayuguan Solar Power Plant is expected to generate 143.72 million kWh per year. Compared with traditional thermal power generation, the project will help to save 48,146 tons of standard coal and accordingly reduce CO2, SOx and NOx emissions by 125,036, 862 and 287.45 tons, respectively.
